KVK-CIARI conducts twin training programmes at Harminder Bay Port Blair, Sept. 7 The Krishi Vigyan Kendra, CIARI organized twin training programmes for the tribal farmers of Harminder Bay, Hut Bay on ‘balance diet for rural women and children’ and ‘design and construction of low cost poly house’ recently. The trainees were imparted knowledge about the balanced diet, dietary requirements and recommended dietary allowances for rural women and children of different age groups, nutritional importance of fruits, vegetables, animal foods etc for human health. In the other training, the trainees were acquainted with different types of poly houses, shade net houses, poly tunnels and the cultivation of different high value crops, flowers and nursery raising inside the poly houses. About 26 tribal farmwomen and adolescent girls participated in both the training programmes. The programmes was coordinated by Smt. Harapriya Nayak, SMS, Home Science and Er. B.K. Nanda, SMS (Agril. Engg.) respectively. Both the programmes were inaugurated by Shri Fred Levis, 1st Headman of Harminder Bay. He urged the tribal farmers and farm women to draw maximum benefit from the programmes. Shri Fastos Nethenial, Secretary, Harminder Bay proposed vote of thanks during the valedictory function. Both the programmes were conducted under the supervision of Dr. Nagesh Ram Programme Coordinator, KVK-CIARI, Port Blair.
