“Kante! I hear Halima call out. “Teacher is calling - TopicsExpress

“Kante! I hear Halima call out. “Teacher is calling you!”. I jump up quickly as I notice Mr. Odin staring at me. “Boy, are you deaf? Come and collect your report card”. I hear him shout out impatiently. I collect the report card and slowly open it. A big smile appears on my face as I see my results in all the subjects. “Congratulations ‘Mr. Papa’s portrait’!’ Mr. Odin says with an equally big smile on his face. “You took first position in class”. There is a loud shout by my classmates as they cheer me with my new nickname. “Thank you, sir”. I manage to respond as I grab Mr. Odin’s extended hand. “No more ‘Mike Tyson ‘but’ Mr. Papa’s portrait O.K.?” he jokes. “No problem, sir.” I respond. Walking out of the class into the beautify morning sunlight, I can hear Papa telling me that everything will be alright. I pull out my Papa’s portrait and take a long look at it. “I hope I have made you proud, Papa!” I mutter aloud.
