Kwara Polytechnic Governing Council chairman dies An Erudite scholar and Chairman of Governing Council of Kwara State Polytechnic, Shehu Jimoh, is dead. The scholar, a Professor of Education Psychology, died at the age of 70 in Ilorin, his hometown on Monday night. He was said to have died of heart attack-related ailment, as he reportedly passed on suddenly while driving his car. According to Daily Independent, the deceased was a former Dean, Students Affairs of University of Ilorin and a Provost of Kwara State College of Education, Oro. His remains have been buried in his residence at Adewole Estate in Ilorin in accordance with Islamic rites. Meanwhile, Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has described the death of the scholar as shocking and a monumental loss to the state and the nation’s education sector. The governor, in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Abdulwahab Oba, recalled that the deceased was one of the shining lights and a colossus in the education sector who contributed immensely to the education development of Nigeria for many decades. The Kwara State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) also, in its condolences, described the death of the scholar as a great loss to the country.
