LA Tenorio, Caguioa deny rift Although LA Tenorio and Mark Caguioa of Barangay Ginebra may appear to be not on the same page on some occasions during their recent games, there’s really no rift or trouble in their relationship. The rumors appeared during Ginebra’s three-game losing streak and was finally addressed the other night after the team ended the skid with both Caguioa and Tenorio saying all is well between them. “I don’t know where that was coming from,” said Caguioa after Ginebra’s 101-92 victory over the Alaska Aces in the Philippine Cup last Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena. “If you’re losing, you don’t mind (ignore each other),” Caguioa said. “Talagang may ganung mangyayari, pag natatalo.” “I’m telling you this right now, there’s nothing between me and LA. I don’t know where that’s coming from. But me being me, I’ll let you know if there is a problem,” he added. Tenorio, on the other hand, said some fans thought there might be a falling-out between him and Caguioa following an exchange of words during a practice session, although it happened a few months ago when Ginebra was still training at the Green Meadows gym in Pasig City. “Maybe na-misinterpret lang ng ibang fans. Nakita kasi kami na nagka-sigawan ni Mark,” said Tenorio. “We already have an understanding, kami nila Mark, si Jayjay (Helterbrand) and even Billy (Mamaril), na ipapakita namin sa mga batang teammates pwede kaming mag-sigawan pero wala yun, just to show it to the young players. Kasi yung iba pag nasigawan sumasama pa loob eh,” added Tenorio. But the rumors gained credence during one play last Tuessday when Caguioa issued a pass to an open Tenorio who, instead of making a quick shot as time was running out, opted to drive to the basket and the shot clock expired. Caguioa was seen stumping his feet and arms in frustration at the lost opportunity. But Tenorio was still the star of the evening. The point guard of Gilas Pilipinas snapped out of a scoring slump with 22 points – his highest output this conference after averaging just nearly seven points in the first nine games. “Finally I had a chance to take over the game,” said Tenorio. With the help of my teammates din, kahit sila inaantay nila yung ganitong game ko. Basically they really helped me a lot.” via@yahoo ~nick~
