LAGOS ORGANISED RETREAT FOR STAFF ON PENSION MATTERS The Lagos State Government recently organized a four-day retreat for staff in its employ on “Sustaining the Standard of Excellence in Pensions Management and Administration” at the Orchid Hotel, Lekki, Lagos. The Commissioner, Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Florence Oguntuase, while declaring the retreat open, applauded the achievements of the staff so far in pension management and administration, adding that the need to improve on their efforts through training and retraining necessitated the retreat. She noted that the recognition of Lagos State as a leader in Pension matters in Nigeria by others was achieved through the hard work, dedication and commitment of the staff, stressing that without them such a feat would not have been possible. While imploring them to improve on delivering their official assignments on time as delay or lateness could be costly especially when dealing with retired senior citizens, Oguntuase expressed appreciation to God for granting her the opportunity to have served the State for 37 years in various capacities. On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Civil Service Pensions Office, Mrs. Adesoye Folasade said the training is part of effort to assess and evaluate the Ministry’s activities in 2014 as well as strategize for the coming Year with a view to effectively manage all aspect of their official duties. She expressed appreciation to the State Government for making the training possible and advised the staff not to limit themselves to official trainings in order to improve themselves, but strive to acquire more skill through personal efforts.
