LEILAS!!! Shepherded by a true connoisseur with dizzying eclectic taste in cuisine, myself and 2 other friends have been visiting an array of richly-flavored ethnic restaurants, thus far Korean, Thai, and Columbian. Tonight I was treated to a Mediterranean place ran by a Lebanese family. The experience left me at once fully-satiated, while hungry for more. Its been a great long time since my stomach and taste buds have been held hostage, willingly. I had a chicken shawarma that seduced me into exquisite bliss. The lentil soup was like delectable precipitation that had fallen from the heavens. The grape leaves were simply scrumptious. The meat pie was hard to put down. The humus was extraordinary. The olives were perfect. And the foul (pronounced fuul) was rich. LEILAS is a small place well within anyones budget. They only have several booths (no tables) and the larger share of the space is a grocery store. The prices are incredible. Cmon! Fennel seeds for only $1.85? Trust me! If youve never tried this place, near Virginia Beach Boulevard and Witchduck Road, YOU SHOULD!
