LESSONS FROM EKITI Looking at the outcome of Ekiti last - TopicsExpress

LESSONS FROM EKITI Looking at the outcome of Ekiti last Saturday and the comments of many Nigerians regardless of religion or tribe on social media, I feel that Nigerians no longer have appetite for leadership by threats, intimidation, violence, terror and impunity which many Nigerians fear is the nature of leadership by the North. (No bashing of the north intended. Just an attempt to face our issues in an open manner) Since the emergence of Boko Haram, many Nigerians have heaped tons of blame on GEJ and his administration. Many consider the administration weak, totally paralytic and corrupt. GIVEN THE MANY ALLEGATIONS OF CORRUPTION, THE LAUGHABLE FAILURE OF EFCC TO PROSECUTE AND CONVICT MANY ALLEGED CORRUPT LEADERS, THE FESTERING IMPUNITY OF BOKO HARAM AND THEIR SPONSORS CULMINATING IN THE TOTAL FAILURE OF GOVERNMENT TO GIVE US SECURITY WHICH SHOULD BE THE TOP PRIORITY OF EVERY GOVERNMENT, SUCH CRITICS MAY NOT BE TOO FAR OFF THE MARK AND CAN BE UNDERSTOOD OR EXCUSED FOR THEIR VIEWS. However, from Ekiti, I somehow gather that although these sentiments abound, many Igbos, Yoruba, Ijaw, some Northerners etc. are no longer able to put up with the uncontrolled and sometimes glorified violence of some miscreants from the North which are seen as the control tool of the Northern leading class. There is therefore now this secret unplanned alliance between tribes and religions in Nigeria against leadership by the North. Although due to lack of courage and fear of violence not many people are willing to speak, our actions are speaking louder than our voices and 2015 may be that deciding moment in the remaking of the political history of Nigeria which will rest and bury the presumed secret aspirations of some Northern Oligarchs to return power to the north. Therefore although Jonathan may have been adjudged incompetent and corrupt by many Nigerians, if having him there will help to break the jinx of leadership by violence and wean many of the old Northern oligarchs of their presumed born to rule mentality, then it is a price worth paying and Nigerians are ready to deal with it. Otherwise, evil will continue to thrive and triumph over good under their watch. Is this likely paradigm shift the end of our generally presumed leadership as of right by some of the older Northern leading class and a new Nigeria order which will force leaders to learn to be accountable or be forced out? I am watching this wind of change and hope that it is not an ill wind. HAVE A GOOD DAY FOLKS AND FORGIVE MY REGULAR AND SOMETIMES ANNOYING RANTING. I AM JUST A BUSY BODY WHO CANNOT MIND HER OWN BUSINESS.
