LGU SEEKS DOLE HELP FOR CASUALS AND CONTRACTUALS EMPLOYEES NEWS AND INFORMATION BUREAU July 9, 2013 Mayor Marnellie Ballesteros Robles expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the contractual employees of the LGU who opted to volunteer to remain in their former respective posts in order to lend support to her newly assumed administration. In the same vein, however, the lady Mayor frankly and honestly accepted that as of the very moment, the LGU has no financial capability to sustain giving remuneration to the contractual employees. Mayor Robles expressed her sentiments that much to her desire to renew the contracts of these personnel, the empty coffers of the LGU will not give justice to the services to be rendered by these personnel. So, there is no other option, but to terminate and/or not to renew their contracts. However, to lessen the adverse and painful impact on the economic life of those who will be displaced from their present jobs with the LGU, Mayor Robles had ordered Ms. Annie Diaz, the PESO Manager to assist in finding alternative livelihood or jobs for them. Immediately, Ms. Diaz contacted DOLE-Sorsogon for possible job openings and opportunities wherein the displaced employees can applied for. Other possibilities being considered and will be explored by the Mayor’s Office are income-generating and livelihood opportunities offered by the Department of Trade and Industry, the Department of Agriculture, Department of Agrarian Reform, and other government and private enterprises. ---------- 0 ----------
