Ladies: Get either a mammogram/thermogram/ultrasoung/MRI for your breasts. Ask your doc if your breasts are dense (mine were) because lumps often are hard to detect in a mammogram if your breast tissue is dense. There are other alternatives: ultrasounds, thermography, and MRIs. I had ALL of the above done recently--the mammo barely showed the tumor I had....it took another month to get it read and referred for an MRI since my tissue was dense and the radiologists were having difficulty reading the mammo. My tumor size was 3.7cm x 2.1cm (large in tumor terms) which should have been EASY to see and may have been growing for a LONG time. Of course, it is hard to say....but.....I wish I would have known what questions to ask my DOC: 1) is my breast tissue dense? 2) If yes, can I have a secondary form of testing in addition to mammo? Really you should insist. And thermography is the easiest and least invasive of all of the testing and although should not be a stand alone test, is a really wonderful tool to go along with your yearly routine health screenings.
