Lady drags businessman lover to court over fraud A lady, Omofela Ogunniyi, has dragged her businessman lover, Akeem Daodu, to court over an allegation that the latter defrauded her of N1.8m. Police prosecutor, Corporal Ishola Samuel, told an Ebute Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, on Wednesday, that the 42-year-old Daodu and Ogunniyi were lovers. Daodu, who resides at No.24 Akinyemi Street, Onipanu, Lagos, faced a two-count charge of stealing and fraud. Samuel said that the offences were committed between March 3 and June 12, 2012 at Onipanu, Lagos. He said that the accused collected the money from the complainant on the pretext of investing it in telecommunication mast contract “and promised to return the money to her with interest.” According to the prosecutor, the accused also promised to secure an employment for Ogunniyi’s sister in a communication firm. He said that the accused, however, fraudulently diverted the money into personal use, adding that the offences contravened Sections 285 and 312 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The Magistrate, Mrs. M.O Tanimola, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties. The case was adjourned till October 14, 2013 for further hearing.
