Last Sunday (December 14th) Chap biologists and 8 volunteers - TopicsExpress

Last Sunday (December 14th) Chap biologists and 8 volunteers conducted our annual Christmas Bird Count. We counted 94 species which is up from the last few years, however total bird numbers were down. The most unusual species for our particular CBC circle during this time of year were White-Tailed Hawks, a Least Flycatcher, Canvasbacks, and a Carolina Wren. Other interesting species found were Wilson’s Snipe, Hermit Thrush, Sage Thrasher, and Spotted Towhee. We had especially high numbers of a variety of waterfowl as well as Sandhill Cranes. Thanks again to our volunteers for the extra help, and to Raul Delgado with the Monte Mucho Audubon Society for the excellent photos.
