Last evening, about 20 NNNS members enjoyed a photographic talk given by David Boulton where he showed that through hardwork and perseverance a suitable habitat for a variety of aquatic creatures can be achieved within the confines of a housing estate in Sprowston. In the 3 years since its conception some of the 6 species of dragonfly and 5 species of damselfly visiting his garden have used the pond for breeding. Two matters of note from his observations were that blanket weed harbours a great many invertebrates and should not be discarded without allowing them to escape back into the water and the main predators of his invertebrates were House Sparrows!
