Last man to enter Paradise... The Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi - TopicsExpress

Last man to enter Paradise... The Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasallam gave a glimpse of some of the incidents that are to take place in the Hearafter in an authentic hadith collected in Sahih Bukhari on the authority of Abu Hurairah (R.A.). It is upon us to constantly ponder and reflect on the Hereafter as death is close to every one of us and there should not go a day except that the thought of the Hereafter and where we’ll end up crosses our mind. The Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasalaam mentioned about this Ummah and the things that are going to take place in the Hereafter and one of those things are crossing the Sirat (the bridge that lays over the Hellfire). This bridge is as thin as a hair strand and sharp as a knife. Some people are going to go across this bridge like a bolt of lightening, some will go across running, some will go across crawling and some people will go across on their stomachs. And everyone will cross the bridge based upon the deeds they’ve done in this life. So while we sit back worrying about what everyone else is doing; on yawm al qiyamah all the things you consider so important to you in this life won’t mean anything to you. The other thing that will matter to you at that moment is getting across that bridge safely without being snagged by one of those metal hooks that grabs people off of the bridge and throws them on to their faces in the Hellfire. So as the Prophet Sallallahu ‘Alayhi Wasalaam mentioned, once everyone has already went into Hellfire and Paradise, there will be one last man left behind. He will be standing facing the Hellfire. Allah Ta’ala will command the Angels to get him and take him away from the fire and be brought to Him. (The scholars say that he is left outside facing the fire because while he was on earth he only made dua that Allah Taala protect him from the Hellfire but never once made dua to be granted Jannah-so be careful what you ask for and how you ask for it). He then said to Allah Taala, “Oh my Lord! The wind from the fire has begun to burn my face. Turn my face away from the Hellfire! And Allah Ta’ala will say to him, Perhaps, if I gave you what you asked for, you will ask me for something else won’t you? (This is a rhetorical question. Why? Because Allah Taala knows bani Adam-never satisfied). And the man says, “I swear by Your Honor that I will never ask for anything else!! So Allah Taala turned his face from the Hellfire; gave him what he asked for. And then he says to Allah Taala, Oh my Lord! Just bring me close to the gate of Paradise. I don’t want to enter, just bring me close to the gate! Allah Taala says, Didn’t you just promise that you wouldn’t ask me for anything else?? Woe be to you O Son of Adam! How deceiving of you. You promised that you wouldn’t ask for anything else.” And he goes on, “Perhaps if I bring you closer to the gate you will ask me for something else??” The man said, “I swear by Your honor I won’t ask you for anything else. So Allah Taala gave him what he asked for; he brought him close to the gate of Paradise. And as the man sees what is in Paradise he went silent for as long as Allah Ta’ala wanted him to be silent. The he asked Allah Taala, Oh my Lord! Allow me to enter into Paradise.” Allah Ta’ala says, “Didn’t you just make me all these promises that you wouldn’t ask me for anything else! Woe be to you O Son of Adam!” And the man will say to Allah Taala, “Oh my Lord! Don’t make me the only one that doesn’t enter the other side of that gate!” (He’s the only one on the outside of the gate. And he continues to beg and make dua to Allah Taala to allow him enter the gate). And he will continue to ask Allah Taala until Allah Ta’ala laughs at him. (Allah Taala laughs at him because of the audacity of the slave and his insistent desire to get the mercy of Allah ta’ala.) He didn’t stop. He kept on going until Allah gave him what he asked for. This is an example for us, that no matter how difficult our circumstances appear, continue in your pursuit to achieve and obtain the mercy of Allah Ta’ala. Don’t give up. This was the last individual to enter into Paradise and he didn’t stop until he entered into Paradise. Likewise for us, we shouldn’t stop until both of our feet are in paradise. Even when we’re in the grave, we should desire the mercy of Allah Taala. We should never stop asking Allah Taala for his mercy and forgiveness. Even if we are this man, that individual - to enter into Paradise. And we pray Allah Ta’ala doesn’t allow us to go through this to enter into Paradise...but even if we did at least we’re in Paradise
