Last night I went to see. Satchmo at the Waldorf @ the westside theater...I really enjoyed getting some insight into this mans life as told through his reactions to different racial situations he encountered throughout his career. Particularly poignant was how he felt about being labeled an Uncle Tom by many of the next generation of jazz artists and how hed lost a black audience in later years. Its a well written and well acted one man play in a quaint Westside off Broadway theater...
