Last night for me at Fiddlers Green. It has been absolute - TopicsExpress

Last night for me at Fiddlers Green. It has been absolute Paradise,..until I went out the front door tonight and discovered the septic guys hit the porch railing with their digger. It knocked the bottom post loose in the ground and yanked the railing loose. This after I paid them 25 hundred dollars. On the road today, I decided not to head back toward Blue Ridge because I went there yesterday. I made a quick stop at the Home Depot (probably about number 12) Then I headed through town toward Alexanders department store. its a treasure in the middle of nowhere, about 10 miles south of town. I was looking for a warm hat with ear flaps that didnt make me look like one of the Duck Dynasty cast. No luck. Theres an archaeological petroglyph site up the road from it, and I did find it, but it required hiking up a steep path to get to it. But, the sign didnt say how far away it was. I didnt want to get to the top and find out it was another mile. My backs still bothering me. I decided just to keep on going and got delightfully lost in the roads back there. I thought I would come out on the highway back to Blairsville, but instead came down right in Young Harris, the next town up the 515, Its a cute place. I checked the phone and the guys were on the way with the big upholstered coffee table for downstairs so I had to head back. It looks absolutely great with the sectional down there. Back in town I stopped in this great little music store called the Fiddle shop. The owners a great long-haired character named Randal Collins. I was looking for a beat up old fiddle to hang on the stones above the fireplace. He didnt have anything that cheap, but he told me people bring in old Fiddles that arent worth fixing all the time. Hell email me when some come in. He had every type of old instruments in there, and the place reeked of music history. Right down the street is Blairsvilles motorcycle shop and I stopped in and checked out the guys collection. Some cool stuff including a Honda 305 dream and a GB500. None for sale though. I told him Id spent my motorcycle budget fixing the septic tank. He replied, money went right down the shitter, eh? He said hed take care of tires on the triumph when I finally bring it up, but he doesnt work on them. Luckily, I do. I took care of the last little projects I wanted to get done before I leave and took some more pictures of the house for the rental agents website.. Tossed the dirty laundry in the washer so I dont have to worry about it when I get home. Its going to be sad to back out of the driveway tomorrow morning because this has been probably the nicest vacation Ive ever had on my own - including a trip to Ireland. I think its because this is my own. I think its also because the inside is me. I feel comfortable and happy with the way it turned out. This trip also reinforced for me how wonderful these people are. But, duty calls. I have the Saturday morning show with Phil and then back in the Newsroom with my WIOD family. I do miss them. The first picture below is on the way to Alexanders. Gorgeous countryside. I got gloriously lost for an hour back in there. I know youve seen enough pictures of Lady Jane to last a lifetime, but if youve ever had a bond with a car, youll understand my attachment. Shes been more fun than I could have imagined. I love it when she runs around with her top off. i know the selfies may be a bit much, but theyre for my future enjoyment. I can look back on them and remember the days when I first found myself and became complete, raise a glass of Glenfiddich and smile like hell.
