Last week I was lucky enough to visit Paris. Although I did not - TopicsExpress

Last week I was lucky enough to visit Paris. Although I did not get the chance to visit Jim Morrisons grave, nevertheless some posters found on the streets of Paris and several t-shirts that teenagers were wearing reminded me of his extraordinary personality. The new movie Frank(2014) starring Michael Fassbender is a portrayal of Jim Morrisons universe. In its essence, the movie gallantly plays around the possibility of an extravaganza musician whos only cool is his original music. This music is not made for mass production nor is it made for consumption. The movie gets as close as possible to this mode of being by letting the sane, boring inside a crazy world. It tries to answer several important questions, like what is music? It is all and nothing for Frank, it is his lucky escape from his anxieties, pain. Why lucky? Because without music the world would be unbearable. Why does Frank sing? Because he is reacting to his fragmented soul. The movie is not a comedy, it is a drama that is pleasant to watch and to reaffirm your own, even if sad and boring existence. It makes the world a bit more interesting. It plays hardly in favor of the paradoxical idea: original music is never made for others, but only for oneself. But what is one without the other?
