Last week a friend and I went to a new restaurant called Smokeworks (smokeworks.co.uk/) in the middle of Cambridge. The only way I can describe it is that its like a cross between an American diner, Nandos and a Grill house. The aroma of barbecued food is phenomenal. The restaurant has only been open for a few months and its so busy... You cant book a table but when you arrive you are put in a queue and your mobile is taken so that they can text you to let you know you table is ready. You can either wait at the bar and have a drink or nip down to nearby pub while you wait for a table to become available. I had a rack of BBQ pork spare ribs, smoked hot & spicy chicken wings which comes with blue cheese dip and fries, all washed down with a lovely cold bottle of cider. You know one of the biggest bug bares we have is when we Coeliacs eat out...the blinking chips are never GF, well at the smokeworks they are...:). The staff are great, friendly, courteous and helpful. Chef Vladimir used to be at the Riverside restaurant before joining this new venture. I have enjoyed fine dining at the Riverside...cooked by Vladimir....I for one will be going back to the Smokeworks in the very near future.
