Lee county had on the ballot to increase taxes for Pine Island/Matlache fire dept......it was voted down but it seems that Lee county still is going to increase the taxes for this. Increasing 3.00 per 1000.00 of property value. Was in the paper yesterday. There will be a meeting at the Fire house in Bokeelia Wed. the 24th at 5.OOPM to discuss this. Maybe we should have a lot of folks go and express our opinions and ask how they can raise the taxes when it was voted down on the ballot????? Bokeelia fire house, Wed. Sept. 24 at 5:00 PM.
