Lesson 3 of SMI Thank you Randy and Chuan for the sharing just - TopicsExpress

Lesson 3 of SMI Thank you Randy and Chuan for the sharing just now. Below is my main takeaway for the lesson. We need to understand conditioning so that we can re-condition ourselves and be the role model for others. What is my stump? My stump is my fear of failure. Because of conditioning from my family, environment and past failures, I do not like to fail, I do not like to lose. When I make any decisions and do anything, I will do a lot of calculations and consideration, Weighing the pros and cons of the situation etc. I will only do or commit when I have a 50% to 60% chance of succeeding. As a result, I spend a lot of time to decide when opportunity arises and sometime this time taken resulted in losing of an opportunity. How can I remove this stump, or recondition myself to accept this stump? In order to remove or recondition this stump, I need to listen more to my heart than my brain. I tend to rationalize too much over issues at times. I need to learn to take the leap of faith, to understand that I need not have the 50% - 60% certainty of succeeding before embarking on a project. I will like to share a story that my father always told me when I am young. It is the story of how eagles teach their young to fly. When the young chicks are hatched from their eggs, the female eagles will catch prey and feed to the young by shredding the food and force feeding them. When the young eagles are strong enough, the female eagle will push the young eagles off the nest. The young eagle faced with the situation of either to fly or die, will flap their wings for the first time and that is how they start to fly. My point of sharing the story is to highlight that we cannot condition ourselves for everything. Sometimes only by putting ourselves in adversity, then can we know what are we truly capable of doing.
