Lessons learned from my grandmother. My grandmothers name was Iris Gilbert. As you may have gathered this is where Chrissy got her middle name of Iris. When my grandmother was alive as with many loving grandsons from time to time Id buy her a dozen roses not for any particular reason other than I just loved my grandmother. Without fail each time I took the dozen roses my grandmother would say the following to me, Michael one rose tells me you love me and a dozen roses tells me youre just showing off. Why dont you take the other eleven roses and give them to other people, that way you can make a lot of people happy with one gift. To this day I do just that. When I think of taking a dozen roses to the cemetery, I think again....I take one rose to my grandmother and the other eleven roses I give away to random people in memory of my grandmother. Sometimes I tell them the rose story so they can understand why Im giving them a rose and how amazing my grandmother was.
