Let me know if Ive forgotten any thing (its for a future book project): HOW I REMEMBER… ….candy and ice cream from Anna’s store in Firthcliffe; the sign (Costa as I recall) outside that was as battered as the building around it. But Anna knew all her customers and their families. That is something you would be hard pressed to find in any store chain today. …..Heys; Hinkson’s; Paddy’s; Ushman’s; Edgars; Cericoli’s… …….every slice I’ve had of Prima Pizza, and every walk I have ever taken from Prima’s on Main Street down to the river. How I would love one more time to watch Cy through the window tossing dough in the air making pizza. …..fishing at Rings Pond, and winning a fishing pole one year in the annual fishing contest. ….the Easter egg hunt every year up on the grounds above the pond ….taking class trips to Sands Ring Homestead. Janet Dempsey was always the town Historian and to her I will be forever grateful for guiding us young “historians” in the right direction. …..getting my first library card from the town hall library. …..the collection of old Cornwall Locals on the shelves in the basement of the Cornwall on Hudson library. There was no microfilm back then-you could actually touch and read a hundred year copy of the Local. ….getting a haircut from John Orlandi. Orlandi’s shop had those great pictures on the wall of the building of Storm King Highway. I read every one of his collection of Time magazines at least twice. …..Bockus’s store, and the diner that stood where the apartments across from his store stands today. ….drinking from the spring on Dock Hill and I can still feel that whack in the back of my head from drinking that ice cold water too fast on a hot day. …..Dr. Troidle and Dr. Marsh
