Let the debate begin....... Please allow me to throw out a disclaimer: I am going to discuss a sensitive topic and mean no disrespect to you or church family. This is an observation and my personal views. Our body is our temple right? Ill admit that I too ate poorly in years past and that I by no means claim to be perfect in any aspect. For the last few years I have packed many meals for various events, meetings, occasions and for church fellowship meals. Today for lunch, I ate healthy! I fed my body kale with crunchy sprouts seasoned with garlic powder, dried onions and peppers and jalapeños. I had a chicken breast with it. I expected a fresh veggie tray or something healthy to be available. After surveying the spread prepared, the ONLY healthy food was cubed watermelon. I grabbed some before it was all gone. Satisfied. Whats sad? You want to really know? What was so very sad is that it wasnt all eaten. Choices? Fried chicken BBQ with buns potatoes in mayonnaise or whatever spread with seasonings Cabbage in mayonnaise or whatever spread with seasonings Green beans in oils and seasonings Desserts -carb and sugar laden Drinks-sodas & sweet tea So now can we evaluate this presentation of food that is meant for the nourishment of our bodies? Its an individual choice what to eat and how much. Our bodies hunger for healthy foods and really do not run the best on foods without substantial nutritional benefits. It seems like even prayers for such food, let alone serving or eating them, is in vain. Okay so now youre thinking -why didnt she carry something healthy? The answer for that is that he had picked up a lemon pound cake. Not worth fighting over. Of all the food environments that we enter should a church fellowship not be one consisting of offerings that benefit our temples to better serve our creator and maker? I just see it as it is now, through the same eyes, yet in a more spiritual state than in the past with a strong appreciation and desire to serve God by helping others. Please feel free to comment. Its a touchy subject. I could go on but Ill step down now and let any debate begin. 🙏
