Lets see, in 2008, Americans elected a polished, skilled, candidate, with good oratory skill named Barack Obama (hes a lawyer too). Flash forward to 2012, that candidate, now President Obama, is up for re-election. He is challenged for the Presidency by a socially awkward, self made millionaire who understands the economy by the name of Mitt Romney. Americans vote Obama back into office for another 4 years, even with a failed economic record. Yes, I know, BIZARRE! 2 years later, America is in decline, our national security is threatened, ISIL kidnappings and beheadings are commonplace, EBOLA scares are the new normal, coupled with IRS/Benghazi/Fast and Furious scandals, lies, deceit, and overall incompetence now rule the day at the White House. Barack Obamas approval ratings hover near records lows, and Americans are disenchanted with the Hope and Change President. Have we learned our lesson? I hope so, but I am not certain. Here in Florida, we have serial politician, Charlie Crist, (our version of Barack Obama) who is a polished, skilled, candidate, with good oratory skill (hes a lawyer too) running against a socially awkward, self made millionaire named Rick Scott, who has a clear understanding of the economy and has a proven record of results. Rick Scott is Floridas version of Mitt Romney. Notice the comparisons yet? Governor Rick Scott has a proven record of economic success, yet the polls are razor thin close, and Florida could possibly elect an Obama clone, (Crist) who embraces Obamas liberal, failed, policies. How can this be? Obamas approval ratings in Florida are at all time lows, yet candidates like Crist still resonate with half the voting electorate? Really? Did we not learn our lesson when we re-elected Obama in 2012? Do Floridians really want a polished politician who gives a good speech over a businessman who has pulled Florida out of an economic mess? The answer is unclear, and it shouldnt be. What is clear is their isnt much difference between Obama and Crist. They both give good speeches, they both embrace big government, and they both dont have a clear understanding of the economy which helps explain their terrible economic records. Floridians have a real decision to make and their isnt much time left. Do we want to go back to the failed policies of the past under Charlie Crist, or do we want to continue moving forward under the leadership of Governor Rick Scott.? Are we better off today than we were 4 years ago? These are all real questions each of us should be asking ourselves. I hope Floridians make the right choice.
