Like Halloween, Obamacare is coming in October, but it’s - TopicsExpress

Like Halloween, Obamacare is coming in October, but it’s bringing more tricks than treats. We were told that only a handful of companies would cut worker hours to less than 30 a week to avoid the mandate to provide health insurance. But according to a survey by the Society for Human Resource Management, 41 percent of 603 small business owners said they have delayed hiring because of the new law. And one in five have already cut worker hours. A separate survey by Mercer human resources consulting found that 12 percent of all U.S. employers reported plans to reduce workers’ hours as a result of Obamacare. That’s a huge bite out of American employment. This week, even Obama’s stanch backers at the AFL-CIO labor union approved a resolution strongly critical of parts of Obamacare, going on record for the first time in declaring it “highly disruptive” to union health care plans. And another new report by the Congressional Research Office found that that the law has already been amended or delayed 19 times. Many in Congress want to repeal it or at least delay it. But with so much disarray and opposition, it looks about as likely to be stopped as a hurricane heading for a beach resort. If anyone in Washington has a plan to head it off, just note that as of today, you have two weeks and four days.
