Lionel Messi - what comes to your mind when you hear this name? - TopicsExpress

Lionel Messi - what comes to your mind when you hear this name? Messi - The boy who was ignored by all his hometown clubs as they refused to pay for his growth hormone treatment. I wont lie, I wanted Messi to win the World Cup so bad that if someone asked me to exchange my A grades (if I have any) in return of Messi winning the World Cup, I would have agreed to that as well. I have been following Messi for the past 7 years. I was just a kid when I first saw Lionel Messi play. Number 19 on the back of his shirt, fluffy hair. I remember thinking that he should wear a headband. There’s no way that hair doesnt end up blocking his vision. Messi was just a kid, too. A nineteen-year-old kid with fluffy hair, a tucked shirt and a deadly left foot. There was a lot of criticism on Messi before the World cup, about not playing for Argentina as well as he plays for Barcelona. Messi took Argentina single handedly to the World Cup final but unfortunately he missed it by inches. BAM! Lionel Messi missed the chance of being the worlds greatest as some would say. The man looked completely shut down, holding his tears received the golden ball for being the best player in the world, which is a different issue. Whoever deserved the Golden Ball doesnt even matter. You think Messi wants it? You think he cares? Cause his face says no. The man only wanted to get his hands on the World Cup, not for him but for his country because Messi doesnt play to be the best ever, he only wanted his people to be happy. The images of Messi all over the internet, looking all shattered left me in depression. I dont even think there is a shame in admitting that I might have cried myself to sleep, thinking how much that man wanted the trophy and looking at his face like that made my heart bleed. After 50 years from now on, Messi might be considered one of the greatest by people but Ill be proud to tell people that I lived in the Lionel Messi era and whoever I could communicate with, I would tell them that Messi was not one of the greatest players. HE WAS AND HE IS SIMPLY THE GREATEST. By Miroo Mengal
