Listening to the Tony Kornheiser show last week, Mr. Tony was lamenting a federal judge striking down DCs ban on concealed carry and the city council subsequently passing a concealed carry law. In the ensuing discussion amongst the MSNBC acolytes who populate Tonys crew, and to Tony, this was all a bit too much to swallow. It was also a great revelation to me about the way limousine liberals look at guns. The Second Amendment be damned, they really do think it should just be ignored, as one of those quaint pieces of the Constitution that really just has outlived its usefulness. For some reason, liberals persist in peddling the fiction that the second amendment was passed to protect the rights of hunters, when the real reason was to protect the citizenry from an oppressive government. In fact, if I asked a founder today, I think hed say the 2nd Amendment protects my right to own a bazooka or a tank with a big giant cannon. But, thats an aside. Liberals truly believe that in a world where concealed carry laws were widespread, it would be less safe. This despite massive amounts of research that shows just the opposite. This was revelation number 1 for me. Liberals think all people who use guns are criminals. Because they themselves do not use guns, the only people they know who do are the criminals they hear about on the nightly news, or the military who carry them into war. Its completely logical for them to assume that any liberalization of guns laws means more of these people have guns. After all, the only people they know who have guns are criminals, so, it stands to reason... Revelation number 2 came when I believe it was Jeanne McManus who fessed up that How many first graders have to die before... To which I thought, Huh? The Newtown shooting had nothing to do with concealed carry. In fact, had CT allowed teachers/school administrators to concealed carry, Newtown may have been much less tragic. And the shooter clearly had no regard for gun laws, as most do not. For some reason, liberals think mass murderers have a sensibility to the gun laws they pass. This is asinine, but theyre liberals. Revelation 3 is that Liberals really want all guns just removed from circulation. They really dont see the point in gun ownership. This is likely because they live in gated communities and they rarely are exposed to actual crime, I just wish liberals would say what they really want to do, which is confiscate every gun in the country. Thats the only way they can accomplish what they claim they want to do, which is prevent all gun violence. Finally, I ask my liberal friends, just this week I posted two examples of guns being used to protect the citizenry - how would these incidents have changed without lawful gun owners being present? One was the OK beheading, where the COO of the company took down the Muslim extremist as he attempted to behead a second victim, and the other was a young girl who took her stalker down as he attempted to break into her apartment. In both these cases, law-abiding, trained gun owners protected themselves or others from the ravages of mad men, using their gun as a great equalizer over someone with superior physical strength. And these were just 2 cases in the same week.
