Living Sword Devotionals Date:3rd October,2014 Lesson from the prodigal son : Return to the Father! Text: Luke 15:17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my fathers have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 15:18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, We bless the name of the Lord for what he is revealing to us via this series. We want to move a step further today as we trust Him for deeper revelation. After sometime of lack and suffering, the prodigal son came back to his senses and decided to return to his father. There is actually no reason for anyone to suffer, to be molested or to lack when by receiving from we cannot reduce His wealth! That is Gods infiniteness! All we need is to return to the father! Read what he said, even my fathers servant had bread enough to eat and to spare! This is the plan of God or our lives! Having enough bread to eat and to spare! Not to waste! That is where we are missing it. We rather throw parties occasionally and waste but what the father wants us to do is to show forth his wealth and attract sinners to Him by our giving! The prodigal son remembered this and returned to the father! Why should we lack? Even if all of us remain wealthy, it doesnt reduce Gods infiniteness! Now let us observe two vital points now. I will go to my father and say I have sinned against heaven. He identified at he had sinned and asked for forgiveness, we must do that to restore the lost relationship with our father! But observe one great part, I am no longer worthy to be called your son but your servant. Did the Lord make him a servant? NO! He retained his son ship that is righteousness which he didnt lose because it is a gift of faith to be called a son! We should get this very right. When we stray from the father, we lose our relationship because of sin but we do not lose our position as sons of God! Have you strayed away? All we need do is ask for forgiveness because your right still remains constant! Note that as soon as the prodigal son returned, the status as the son returned. The Lord wants us all back. Return to the father , leave the pigs!
