Local school hosts “The Big Music Show” concert as part of £15,000 Charity fundraiser for Burma Tickets are now on sale for a fundraising concert on Saturday 28th September at Royal Wootton Bassett Academy, aimed at raising funds for a charity building schools for deprived children in Burma. “The Big Music Show”, which will feature a cast of musicians playing blues, country, soul, reggae and classic rock has been organised with the help of local singer-songwriter Alan Pettifer and the G4S Integrated Services’ team at the school. Tickets for the event, which starts at 7.00pm, are available from the Wootton Bassett Post Office, from the Academy or online at boxoflightsmusic, priced at just £10.00 including food. Royal Wootton Bassett Academy is hoping to raise £15,000 for its Burma Appeal, working with the charity “Stand By Me” to build a new school in the country, where severe poverty and a rising number of orphaned children makes access to education extremely limited. The school has already managed to raise a staggering £10,000 towards its target through other fundraising initiative such as cake sales, football tournaments and jewellery shows. All profits from this music event will go towards the £15,000 fundraising goal. Anticipated highlights at the concert include performances from the West Country premier blues band “Blues Reviewed”, the talented Swindon solo performer Ian O’Regan and amazing Gloucester trio “Vapor.” Also performing will be the school’s very own swing and rock ‘n’ roll bands, together with “Horizon” who will be singing their own special Burma Appeal song entitled “Smile.” The G4S IS team is providing both the school hall and catering for the evening as well as stewarding the event, and has also made a donation of £100 towards the total.
