Loco Moco is a dish that is popular in Hawaii. Its a hamburger patty served with rice, eggs, and smothered in gravy. I didnt add much gravy to my dish, but you are welcomed to add more. Just double my measurements for more gravy. If youre looking for something quick, fast, and tasty, try my Loco Moco recipe. Loco Moco Ingredients/Instructions: Hamburger Patty Steak: 1 lb of 80/20 ground beef 1/4 cup of maui onions 2 garlic cloves minced 1/4 cup of panko bread crumbs Salt and Pepper to taste Mix the ground beef with the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Divide the mixture into 4 patties. When forming the patty, indent the middle of each one, to ensure even cooking. Heat up oil and fry patties on medium or medium high (depending on how you like your patty done) until a crust forms on the bottom. Flip over and cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side. When done, set patties aside. Drain excess oil on a paper towel. Ditch the oil but save the pan drippings. Gravy: (double the measurements for more gravy) 1 Tbsp of unsalted butter 1/4 cremini mushrooms 1 1/2 cup of low sodium beef broth 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp. cornstarch 1/8 cup of maui onions 1 garlic clove minced Salt and Pepper to taste In the same pan the patties were cooked in, melt butter. Once butter is melted, sauté the onions and garlic, season with salt and pepper. Once onions are softened, add the mushrooms and sauté. In a separate bowl mix cornstarch with 1 tablespoon of beef broth (slurry). Add the beef broth to the pan and the slurry. Add Worcestershire sauce and season with salt and pepper. Mix until gravy thickens. Turn heat off and add patties to the gravy pan. To plate: White rice on the bottom, topped with hamburger patty and gravy. Add fried egg on top and garnish with furikake. Enjoy!
