Log Jam. Our Courts are backed up. Thats a fact. Victims wait for justice for years. Criminal defendants are free to commit new crimes on our streets before the 5 or 6 crimes they commited before ever go to court. Cases get old for 2 reasons: 1. Lack of Jury Trials. The current prosecutors office has not tried a criminal jury trial since before the last election. Without the threat of a trial, few criminals will ever plead guilty. 2. Poor Negotiating. There isnt time to try every case, so most cases have to be resolved with a plea. Our current deputy prosecutor thinks people will just plead guilty because he tells them to and is surprised that this isnt working. You have to understand how a criminal defendant thinks if you expect to come up with a deal that they will agree too - and that still takes care of the victim and protects our community. I have tried countless criminal jury trials. Criminal defendants and their lawyers will know that there is a day of reckoning if they dont plead guilty. My criminal defense experience, which is naively ridiculed by those who dont understand how the system works, allows me to negotiate deals that protect our community, serves the victims, and ensures that justice is swift. Lots of people promise to break this log jam, (including the deputy prosecutor who has created it), but there is only 1 candidate with the skills and experiences that can get the job done.
