Long haul truck driver (NOC: 7411) Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, On Call, Overtime, Weekend, Day, Night Salary: $22.00 to $26.00 hourly, 50.00 Hours per week, BONUS , Mileage Paid Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible Location: Calgary South East, Alberta (3 vacancies) Skill Requirements: Education: Some high school Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.): Drivers Licence (Class 1 or A), Air Brake (Z) Endorsement Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years Languages: English Type of Trucking and Equipment: Straight truck (4,600kg+ or 10,000lbs+ with 3+ axles), Tractor-trailer, Van Type of Travel: Long-haul, International Documentation Knowledge: Driver logbook, Bill of lading, Inspection report (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), Trans-border documentation, Maintenance and repair reports, Trip reports, Accident or incident reports Communication Equipment Experience: Cellular phone, Satellite tracking (GPS) equipment Weight Handling: Up to 45 kg (100 lbs) Specific Skills: Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials, Loading and unloading of goods, Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo, Plan travel schedules and routes, Use atlases and other trip planning aids, Receive and relay information to central dispatcher, Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment, Monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness, Perform preventive maintenance, Perform emergency roadside repairs Additional Skills: Mountain driving expertise, Professionalism in customer service, Handle inquiries from customers Security and Safety: Bondable, Criminal record check, Driving record check (abstract), Medical exam, Drug test Own Tools/Equipment: Tools, Steel-toed safety boots, Hard hat Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Physically demanding Transportation/Travel Information: Willing to travel cross-border, willing to travel for extended periods, willing to travel overnight, valid drivers licence, Travel expenses paid by employer Work Location Information: Staff accommodation provided, various locations Essential Skills: Document use, Writing, Communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Decision making, Critical thinking, Significant use of memory Other: On time pickups and deliveries.
