The circus theme and all its participants are certainly popular for toddlers and preschoolers. Young children become acquainted with the big top, clowns, acrobats, circus animals and the tricks they perform. The digital illustrations are a bit stylized but colorful, expressive and multicultural. Vocabulary is largely age appropriate and length of story not too long for this age group. I read the story on a kindle fire HD 8.9, and I had a lot of difficulty reading the text because the print could not be distinguished from the background color on some of the pages. There is a paperback edition that comes with large print that may alleviate the problem. 4.0 out of 5 stars An easy fun read March 22, 2014 While we prefer paperback and hard cover books, I took the advise of the previous poster and purchased a copy of this book in print. My kids love books. I have purchased Picklewiggle books in the past and have never been disappointed. A Day at the Circus is a very imaginative, colorful book young children will love reading. The words are simple and to the point. Its one book added to our TBR pile at night time. Amelia Picklewiggle does know what kids like. Her books are fun to read. I highly recommend them.
