Look for Conservative Christian Politicians to begin quietly de-funding any public financing of further space missions if we start to get firm proof of life elsewhere. To find that we are not the only place in the Universe to harbor life would surely upset the political religious power base across the planet. I think your average Christian would take this all in stride and have a more realistic outlook on the findings, but to upset thousands of years of religious tyranny by destroying one of the main tenants of religion, that we are the only life anywhere and those that abuse religion for wealth and power are going make sure we dont find out. Maybe thats why we spent 30 years and billions of dollars studying the effects of zero gravity on Tang in low earth orbit instead of moving beyond the Moon? Question of the day
