Looking for community businesses interested in hosting their own event or donating funds or raffle items for PJ Day for the Kids at CCMC. Preparations for the 4th annual PJ Day for the Kids, benefiting Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s pediatric cancer center, are underway. The event, started in 2011 at Coventry Grammar School, has grown exponentially each year. Last year all 4 Coventry Schools and Highland Park Market participated in fundraising and PJ Day events in support of the children at CCMC who spend days or weeks in their PJs, while fighting illness and disease. We once again hope to see this event grow. PJ Day 2013 was an amazing example of what our community can do when we stand together. The event was originally started by a second grader whose sister battled cancer as an infant, in efforts to “give back” for lifesaving care she received at the medical center. Upon embarking on this effort, we learned many within the community were eager to show support or thanks to CCMC. Opportunities for local businesses include: -Hosting a PJ Day event, with employees (or your business) making donations for this “privilege” (similar to a blue jeans day or casual Friday). Your business is also invited to collect small toys for the treasure chests at CCMC. -General donation to the event. -Donation of raffle items for the PJ Day events held at the 4 Coventry Schools. Participating business will be included in our media campaign, locally and through the medical center. The event has been in local papers and online (Facebook). Please contact Tara Wesoloskie at [email protected] with any questions.
