Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) announces Senegal as guest of honor of its 2014 edition The governor of Luxor and LAFF Board of Trustees announce dates of the 3rd edition and the honorary guests Within the framework of the preparations for the 3rd edition of Luxor African Film festival (LAFF), a first meeting was held between the newly appointed governor of Luxor, Tarek Saad Eddin and the Board of Trustees of the 3rd edition. It was chaired by Dr. Essam Sharaf, Former Prime Minister of Egypt, and the membership of LAFF President Sayed Fouad, LAFF director Azza Elhusseiny , head of film selection Attia Eldardiri, and head of technical committees, the critic and writer Farouk Abdel-Khalek. After reviewing the main topics related to the new edition which will be held from 16 to 24 March 2014, the attendees discussed the honorees and also agreed to increase the number of participating African countries to 36 countries addition to Egypt. Like the past edition, books related to African cinema will be translated and published. The Board also took some time to visit the different venues of the festival. Governor Tarek Saad Eddin assured LAFF to support the 2014 edition with all the logistics and capabilities of Luxor Governorate in order sustain the touristic, cultural, and political aims of the festival. Dr. Essam Sharaf also sheds the lights on the important role of LAFF in the cohesion between Egypt and the whole African countries. By the end of the meeting, LAFF Board decided to choose Senegal as the honorary African country of the 2014 edition. A press conference will be held at the end of November to announce all the 2014 edition details.
