M 6 quake rattles Pakistan A magnitude-6 earthquake has struck northern Pakistan, writes Associated Press. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage. An official at the Pakistani Meteorological Department said the quake could be felt in the city of Peshawar and the capital Islamabad. The epicenter was in the Hindu Kush Mountains on Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan and Tajikistan, Mohammad Shahid told the agency. Meanwhile, according to the US Geological Survey a magnitude-5.1 quake struck Afghanistan, some 280 kilometers northeast of the capital, Kabul. However, conflicting data is common immediately after an earthquake.
