M.O.R.-My Official Review Start this off by saying this will be the last written review I put on Facebook. I will be transitioning to my own YouTube page for movie reviews, trailer reactions, film news, etc. So, for the final typedown, weve got Ahhhnold shootin up the place and the leader of a movement. Lets see... Sabotage: Post-Governator, Schwarzenegger has shown that even at 66, he can still put the ass-whoopin on the younger competition. The actors here seem to have a good fit for the roles theyve been given, though each has an unusually cartoonish nickname behind them. Co-written and directed by David Ayer, (Harsh Times, Street Kings, End of Watch) returns for another foray into crooked officers of the law messin with drug pushers and their money. I blame two things for this feature: 1, it seems to focus more on the macho-ness, brute force and often, gruesome violence of its characters actions then on the personalities and depth that comes with being a member of the DEA in that environment. 2, Skip Woods, the co-writer. This guy is box office poison. With such gems like Swordfish, Hitman, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, The A-Team and A Good Day to Die Hard, hes got a knack for penning second-rate action flicks. If you are a true fan of straight-up shoot em up action films or just a fan of Schwarzeneggers, this is a Redbox movie. If not, not quite sure Id recommend this one. GET TO DA CHOPPA!!!! Cesar Chavez: When it comes to making a biopic about a well-known, influential figure, the film has to present that figure with respect, accuracy and a feeling of importance and resonance. This films mistake is that it felt the need to idolize the heroic idea of the person depicted, instead of humanizing him. Instead of making a man of historical change into a saint or hero, though that isnt all bad in itself, the writing and the tone have to feel true to the spirit, sincerity and character of who that person is, or in this case, was. Michael Pena, gives an able performance with the material, however, it lacks a certain effectiveness and freshness. I would say this is a rent-it movie. Alright, off of the keyboard and into the web I go. Ive found people respond more to watching a person interact on camera than just the written word. Should be interesting. Gonna catch the IMAX screening of Noah tonight. Next weekends a big one-Captain America: The Winter Soldier. See ya on the internets. Im out!
