MACRO SHOOT OUT CONTEST Next spring I will be holding a new program called the Macro Shoot Out Contest. It will be held at Longwood Gardens outside of Philadelphia,PA. Longwood Gardens has an amazing four and a half acres of indoor gardens with thousands of plant varieties. The contest will be limited to twenty participants who will compete for prizes. I will be presenting a lecture on Friday night on how to get the best results when shooting at the gardens. Saturday the participants will begin shooting at the gardens at 9am and will end at 3pm. Everyone will go view their images and choose their best shot of the day, and submit it by 7pm to me. I will have myself and three other judges online that will view the images entered and pick the winners. On Sunday morning the group will meet at 9am to view and announce the winners. The Friday evening program and Sunday morning meeting will be held at a local hotel. The grand prize winner will get a Tamron lens. Other finishes will win a Acratech Ballhead ($299) Vanguard Tripod ($150) Think Tank Photo Bag ($150) Hunts Photo gift cards, Helicon Focus Software, Topaz Software, and more. Every participants will win something. It will be up to each individual to find good subjects and produce the best composition they can without any help, other then the instructions they learned from the Friday night lecture. We want to see how well you do with your own skills. The only processing allowed will be basic sharpening, saturation, and contrast enhancements. No specials software effects. This is to level the playing field for those who may not have all the different software programs, or skill to use them. The contest will be based on the subject matter and composition. Cost to participate will be $149 plus entrance fee into the gardens on Saturday. The official announcement and final details, dates, and sign up will come after the first of the new year.
