MBABANE - Swazi Rhythm artists were invited for a performance alongside some of SA’s best musicians this past Saturday, in Nelspruit. According to Lindelwa Mafa, director of the Swazi Rhythm project, the artists were invited through the Sibusisiwe Foundation. This foundation is based in Mpumalanga, Nelspruit and its main objective is to uplift and develop its community towards a better future and successful life. “Since one of their projects is Elements of Sound which is a community development project in Mpumalanga in search of talent, the first being the genre of jazz, local artists namely Nomzamo ‘Zaza’ Dlamini, Floewe ,Amanda Mo and lyricists Mozaick, KRTC and DJ Czar were invited to perform,” said Mafa . The show was held at Riverside Mall in Nelspruit and was hosted by Selimathunzi’s Zizo Beda and saw South African artists like Lira, Afrotraction and DJ Shabba share the stage with our local talent. Lindelwa Mafa thanked Sibusisiwe Foundation for the invite as she believes this is a great way to market local talent in neighbouring South Africa. “I am all about the promotion of local artists so I am always excited when I see such recognition from outside the border,” said Mafa. Another highlight for the Swazi Rhythm artists was that they met and networked with SA artists and TV personalities about their craft and future collaborations. “ As the country continues its move to developing a music industry which as per the recent speech from the Prime Minister Dr Barnabas Dlamini acknowledging the different music genres in the album and encouraging the country to propel these artists into the public domain far more assertively,” said Mafa. “Swazi Rhythm working in collaboration with Swazi Tone of Real Music (STORM), hopes to continue promoting, developing and established artists by presenting them to the main stage and as per the standard, only quality music and creativeness suffices” added Mafa. The STORM festival is expected to take place yet again this year at a date to be announced. Source: Times of Swaziland (09-10-13 By: Thobeka Manyathela)
