ME AND JIM (back in ‘63) in a twisting rivulet flowing to the west I’m swimming backwards through the current of a time when the hour glass was only just beginning we went speeding through dimensions of adventure a squall of boisterous youth and anticipation burdened with the hunger of two ravenous wolves walked barefooted over hill ‘cross Polk and Geary sky marbled with pink clouds above the orange bridge hooting at the moon we ran with Johnny Cortez only two possessions enchantment and unrest servants of confusion but, hey, what did we care singing in the streets “as long as she needs me” and “I left my heart where those little cable cars climb...,” searching for some rapture all day and all night too thirty days of teeming rain till the sun broke through and never really giving up our tenancy but always, just barely, escaping from the flood even though gifted with excessive senselessness we swallowed San Francisco like bubbly champagne Copyright 2013 Dennis John Ferado L to R James Patton, Denny Ferado, Carolyn Cifichiello and Pat and Jay O’Neill
