MEDITATE TO FIND HIM One of the questions I find people ask most frequently is: Where is God? They also want to know about their soul/spirit. Science has advanced to the point where we have powerful telescopes and spaceships to explore outer space, and particle accelerators to look at the smallest particles within each atom, and yet we have not uncovered where God is in this material universe. The fact that the Creator is yet to be found in the outer physical universe points to what saints and mystics have been saying for centuries: God is within us. They have found God within through meditation. Many think meditation as merely a way to relax the body and mind. For the saints and mystics, meditation has been the way to find God. Through meditation, we also find answers to questions about what happens to us after death and whether there is life after. Some saints have called the human body a temple in which the Creator resides. Since soul or spirit is a part of God, we carry God within. Meditation is simple. We have to merely find a quiet, comfortable place to sit in where our mind and body can be stilled. We close our eyes and look within to see what appears. The mind wants to distract us with thoughts. To defeat this, one can mentally repeat spiritually-charged words. In an introductory method called Jyoti meditation, we can repeat any name of God with which we feel comfortable, to keep the mind from distraction. The body and mind will feel relaxed and peaceful, and our soul or spirit will have a spiritual experience leading us to find God within. Doing the spiritual practice of meditation each day will help us find out for ourselves, using the laboratory of the human body, where God is. While scientists keep looking for God in the deepest reaches of outer space or within the minutest particles of atom, we can solve the greatest mystery ourselves by meditating.
