MEET REPORT FROM June 29th, 2013 by Shelly Austin The Woodbury Waves fought hard during their second dual meet of the season against the Woodbridge Waveriders. Waves swimmers posted 152 time improvements. 52 Waves swimmers had ISL qualifying times in 109 events. The 5-6 girls and 15-18 girls achieved first place finishes in all 4 individual events. The 13-14 boys took first through fourth places in breaststroke and freestyle. Earning three first place ribbons were Troy Hill (5-6 backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) and Sophia Yang (5-6 butterfly, backstroke, and breaststroke). Swimmers earning two first place ribbons were: Carey Aoki (15-18 breaststroke and freestyle), Ryan Hatcher (7-8 butterfly and backstroke), Nathan Jurado (11-12 backstroke and individual medley), Justin Pai (9-10 butterfly and individual medley), and Esteban Torres (13-14 butterfly and freestyle). The following Waves swimmers earned one first place ribbon: Daniel Bae (13-14 breaststroke), Sophia Guntrip (9-10 backstroke), Aimee Jurado (15-18 backstroke), Jun Kim (9-10 backstroke), Elise Ngo (5-6 freestyle), Cathleen Nguyen (15-18 butterfly), Matthew O’Neill (11-12 butterfly), Tyler Ringhofer (7-8 breaststroke), and Elise Sullivan (7-8 backstroke). The following Waves swimmers earned two second place ribbons: Justin Aoki, Julia Goldstein, Avery Ngo, Mailynh Nguyen, Tyler Ringhofer , Elise Sullivan, and Jason Yang. Waves swimmers earning one second place ribbon were Carey Aoki, Daniel Bae, Trey Canalita, Sophia Guntrip, Aimee Jurado, Nathan Jurado, Nicholas Kim, Kevin Lu, Elise Ngo, Cathleen Nguyen, Lannhi Nguyen, Matthew O’Neill, Nick O’Neill, Justin Pai, Esteban Torres, and Peyton Weidner. Woodbury Waves mixed medley relay teams finishing in first place were Trey Canalita, Sophia Yang, Elise Ngo, and Troy Hill (5-6); Ryan Hatcher, Tyler Ringhofer, Avery Ngo, and Elise Sullivan (7-8); Peyton Weidner, Justin Pai, Jun Kim, and Sophia Guntrip (9-10); Justin Aoki, Lannhi Nguyen, Esteban Torres, and Jack McMannis (13-14); and Cathleen Nguyen, Aimee Jurado, Nicholas Kim, and Nick O’Neill (15-18). The 15-18 freestyle relay team of Carey Aoki, Nicholas Kim, Cathleen Nguyen, and Nick O’Neill also finished first. After two dual meets this season, the following Waves swimmers have achieved ISL qualifying times for all five events (butterfly, backstroke, individual medley, breaststroke, and freestyle): Justin Aoki, Sophia Guntrip, Aimee Jurado, Nathan Jurado, Lannhi Nguyen, Mailynh Nguyen, Matthew O’Neill, and Peyton Weidner. Waves swimmers with ISL qualifying times for four events include: Carey Aoki, Daniel Bae, Julia Goldstein, Troy Hill, Allison Kramer, Kevin Lu, Jack McMannis, Avery Ngo, Elise Ngo, Cathleen Nguyen, Justin Pai, Tyler Ringhofer, Elise Sullivan, Esteban Torres, Emilie Wilmot, Jason Yang, and Sophia Yang. The following Waves swimmers have achieved ISL qualifying times for three events: Laura Bui, Nylah Canalita, Phil Chen, Sharon Chen, Ethan Ho, Trevor Jiang, Jun Kim, Nicholas Kim, Alex Li, Chris Li, Justin Lin, Titus Ng, Carolyn Nguyen, Dustin Nguyen, Kristine Nguyen, Nick O’Neill, Ashley Pham, Hayley Pham, Ryan Shattuck, Madeline Smith, and Kevin Tu. Waves swimmers with ISL qualifying times for two events are Brooke Baldwin, Eric Bui, Leslie Bui, Trey Canalita, Gabriel Chen, Richard Chen, Ryan Hatcher, Belal Ibrahim, Justin Kim, Grant Kramer, Alex Palafox, Samantha Porter, and Kia Sowlati. The following swimmers have ISL qualifying times in one event: Kevin Bae, Brandon Bui, Jack Devlin, Noah Fong, Morgan Merrell, Lawrence Mi, Sophia Puckett, Kasra Sowlati, Mia Sullivan, Emily Wei, and Karina Young. At Saturday’s meet, Waves swimmers that had time improvements for three events were Catelyn Austin, Daniel Bae, Brooke Baldwin, Eric Bui, Ethan Chang, Timmy Chang, Sharon Chen, Brandon Chung, Camryn Chung, Jack Devlin, Kate Given, Sophia Hill, Amber Khauv, Dustin Nguyen, Matthew O’Neill, Sophia Smith, Elise Sullivan, Mia Sullivan, Anisa Walker, Andrew Whang, Joshy Whang, and Sophia Yang. Swimmers with two time improvements were Carey Aoki, Ryan Austin, Nathan Bae, Brandon Bui, Julia Goldstein, Troy Hill, Sarah Ibrahim, Nathan Jurado, Justin Kim, Allison Kramer, Grant Kramer, Kevin Lu, Lawrence Mi, Arash Moghaddam, Shayan Moghaddam, Elise Ngo, Lannhi Nguyen, Jaden Path, Leo Path, Samantha Porter, Sophia Puckett, Youngbo Shim, Max Silva, Andrew Tan, Penny Wei, John Woo, Jason Yang, and Joshua Yoo. The following swimmers had one time improvement: Justin Aoki, Nylah Canalita, Trey Canalita, Dylan Chung, Conor Devlin, Faith Fong, Sophia Guntrip, Blake Hill, Brent Hill, Belal Ibrahim, Aimee Jurado, Jason Khauv, Nicholas Kim, Ryan Le, Morgan Merrell, Avery Ngo, Mailynh Nguyen, Justin Pai, Alex Palafox, Hayden Pimentel, Tyler Ringhofer, Miles Silva, Madeline Smith, Emily Wei, Ella-Blue Wilmot, and Emilie Wilmot. The following Waves swimmers had time improvements of over 10 seconds: Catelyn Austin, Timmy Chang, Jason Khauv, Max Silva, and Joshy Wang. Waves swimmers posting time improvements of between five and ten seconds were: Ethan Chang, Arvin Kupumbati, Leo Path, Hayden Pimentel, Sophia Smith, Mia Sullivan, Anisa Walker, and Penny Wei.
