MEET SOME OF THE WOMEN FROM BOSNIA AND HERZEGOVINA Jasmina, the champion of Pozegaca Plum sweet Jasmina lives in Ustikolina, in the Bosnian-Podrinje canton. She is the president of the Association „Emina“, the official representative for slatko Pozegaca (Plum sweet) Slow Food Presidia since 2005, and the promoter of the Festival of flavors, the first exhibition dedicated to the taste of the niche products of Balkan countries. Composed of ten women, the association - which meets all regulatory standards for sales of domestically produced food and export in the EU - in addition to the plum sweet produces apple juice and ajvar, traditional peppers based relish. Last year has not been easy , with the crisis and the lack of rain, but we hold on. We are working in two directions: first of all to keep our craft protected, without approaching large retailers and distribution which would mean selling our brand to industrial production. Secondly, we are trying to enhance the local products awareness and consumption: among the many paradoxes of Bosnia and Herzegovina, there is also the fact that stores are importing goods from other Countries in large quantities, such as Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia. Goods of lower quality and at a lower cost. We must counter this tendency, spread and defend the culture of our Country. Drugo, pokušavao ojačati svijest i potrošnju lokalnih proizvoda. Robu lošijeg kvaliteta i niže cijene. Moramo se boriti protiv ovog trenda, širiti i braniti kulturu naše zemlje.“ tekst: Serena Guidobaldi Fotografije: Nicola Sacco and Paolo Della Corte
