MRI results Narrative ** MR BRAIN AND ORBITS ** INDICATION: 365.9 Unspecified glaucoma, 365.70 Glaucoma stage, unspecified, optic atrophy OD, eval for compressive causes provided. COMPARISON: None TECHNIQUE/PROTOCOL: Standard brain and orbits pre and post contrast MRI performed. CONTRAST: 3.7mL Gadavist IV. This MRI was performed before and after IV administration of contrast material, which was deemed necessary given the patients indication for the examination. If IV contrast had not been administered the likelihood of detecting abnormalities relevant to the patients condition would have been substantially decreased. Creatinine 0.7, GFR greater than 60 No immediate patient complications or events noted. FINDINGS: The globes appear intact. No evidence of intraocular hemorrhage or lens dislocation. The optic nerves are normal in course and signal. There is abnormal thinning of the optic chiasm without compressive etiology. The intraconal fat is normal. Extraocular muscles, superior ophthalmic veins, lacrimal glands and fossae are normal. There is no acute cortical infarct, intracranial hemorrhage, mass, or mass-effect. The extra-axial spaces, basal cisterns, ventricles and sulci are normal. Intracranial flow-voids appear normal. The cranium, mastoid sinuses, and visualized paranasal sinuses are unremarkable. IMPRESSION: Abnormal thinning of the optic chiasm without compressive etiology. I have reviewed the images and concur with the above findings.
