#MSwx - Happy New Years Eve Mississippi! Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts because another round of strong storms and heavy rain is headed our way for the weekend. The good news is that it will hold off until our New Years festivities are over! Well see plenty of sunshine today but temperatures will be well below average. Well top out at just 48° in Jackson today. Temperatures will sink into the mid-30s as the ball drops at midnight central time, so make sure to bundle up if youre heading out and if you have any outdoor plans this evening. Clouds will increase throughout the overnight hours and that will keep us a few degrees warmer tomorrow morning than what we have seen out there this morning. Temperatures will gradually climb as we head into the weekend with highs back near 50° tomorrow, the low-50s by Friday and temps will surge into the upper-60s on Saturday just before our next cold front pushes through. Well stat mostly dry tomorrow, but showers will move in late tomorrow evening. We will see widespread rain and thunderstorms on Friday, and some of those storms could be on the strong side with damaging winds and an isolated tornado threat. I think our primary concern will be flooding though, as another round of heavy rain is anticipated for Saturday. Skies will clear and temperatures will drop behind that cold front by Sunday and Monday. Expect overnight lows below the freezing point by the beginning of next week.
