MUNCH Wins Best Delegate and six more at the Edison MUN Library Conference 2014 The Model UN Class of Hillcrest (MUNCH) team traveled to nearby Thomas Edison Career & Technical Ed High School today to represent thirteen different nations of the 3rd Committee of the General Assembly (Social, Humanitarian, and Cultural Committee) of the United Nations and addressed the problems of the modern city throughout the day. The 48-nation Committee caucused and passed three resolutions that centered around solutions to combat overpopulation and decrease pollution. Seven out of thirteen awards at the Conference were won by MUNCH students, including the coveted Best Delegation Award, won by the Academy of Media, Arts and Music’s own, Sunpreet Singh and Nathan Persaud as the Democratic Republic of the Congo. This is both Sunpreet and Nathan’s first year in Model United Nations. The Best Delegation Honorable Mention awards went to China (Elizabeth Torres and Zainab Tahir), New Zealand (Ravina Kumar and Mah Noor) and Thailand (Utkur Babev and Kazi Ahmed). Best Position Paper Honorable Mention awards went to Colombia (Daniela Barrera and Keli Almonte), Democratic Republic of the Congo (Nathan Persaud and Sunpreet Singh) and United States of America (Deepika Khan and Abeerah Aziz). All of Hillcrest and the MUNCH team want to thank the Edison delegations as well as their advisors Ms.Ragavanis and Mr.Baker for putting together a great conference. Congratulations to all!
