Madang charges PNGRFL ignores small centres pngloop Rex Sos Nov 24, 2014 Madang Rugby League Football Association has been going through some tough times with administrative issues and club officials are not happy the PNG RFL is not paying attention to the Madang association. MRLFA club officials are not pleased Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) is bestowing more time and money on the PNG Hunters and major leagues in the country and turning a blind eye to smaller centres. Albert Tobby, president of Madang Knights Rugby League Club spoke to Loop about the situations faced in the MRLFA. ” It’s becoming as if rugby league in this part of the country does not mean anything to the Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League,” he said. Tobby condemned the PNGRFL for what he called their negligence on issues affecting rugby league in Madang. “What we need now in Madang is for the PNGRFL to institute a proper administration right. “Our attempts to contact the PNGRFL executive via email and SMS have fallen on deaf ears. It’s disappointing when repeated attempts to communicate with the responsible authorities have reached a dead end. “No one cares to at least acknowledge receipt of your email or SMS, despite you’ve received an author reply stating your email was read or SMS was delivered successfully. “I guess we (MRL) are insignificant, hence rugby league in this part of the country does not mean anything to them (the PNGRFL – Papua New Guinea Rugby Football League). ” MRFA have been operating on an ad hoc basis without proper administration and leadership. This is a decade old problem, yet PNGRFL has so conveniently turned a blind eye to it. “It appears that PNGFRL activities are concentrated in POM, Rabaul and Lae. The rest of the country are left to fend for themselves or otherwise die a natural death. “PNG Hunters program and Kumul Development program are not everything rugby league can offer in the country. “I call on Labi Amaiu and Justin Tkatchenko MP to immediately order an independent audit into the operations PNGRFL to acquit and report on its performance this year.” Albert said that PNG is regarded as a rugby league crazy nation and every citizen in PNG is an important stakeholder in the code thus they all deserve fair treatment and Rugby League must not be centred around Port Moresby, Kokopo and Lae only.
