Magic Johnson If enough people share this message, it will get to Irving Magic Johnson for his consideration. If it resonates with you then share it. If it does not, then carry on. Any negative comments will just be deleted so dont waste your time. Magic, I would like you to reconsider boycotting Clippers games while the racist old man is still the owner. I would like to suggest another alternative; and I shall explain why afterward. I think that you should call for a blackout as opposed to boycotting. Call for all fans to wear black Ts to the games (perhaps all NBA games). You could also sell T-shirts that are all black on the front and striped on the back with the four colors that are associated with the human race (none of which are accurate by the way); Black, White, Yellow and Red. The only reason the t-shirt is black in front is because the racist old man particularly focused his hate mostly on black people. 100% of the proceeds can go to a non-profit organizatin that you start called The Magic Society whose purpose is to promote people standing up against racism and intolerance; and educating the masses about diversity and respecting cultural and ethnic differences. The organization can generate awareness with merchandise (similar to what I described above) as well as educational tours to public schools teaching children about diversity and tolerance and sponsoring music tours for culturally aware artists, etc. The sky is the limit! This can make a GLOBAL perspective shift on race, class, etc... I think that you should attend every Clipper game that you have a chance to attend; and be as prominent as you can be with your Magic Society t-shirt on over your shirt and tie (it can be a low-cut neck so your tie and collar are still visible, because I know you love to wear your suits!) :) WHY do i think that this is a better alternative. There is a list of reasons actually! 1. Fight Fire with Water! The racist old man has a right to believe and think how he chooses. Boycotting his team doesnt merely affect him, but it affects the players and the executives as well. The racist ISNT the team. I am concerned for the negative impact on them; many of them being the very minorities we are trying to defend. Many fans will follow your influence of boycotting, and ultimately this WILL have an affect until enough pressure is put on the racist old man that he sells the team. This hurts the NBA, the team (which is bigger than the racist owner) and the fans in the meanwhile. We can fight him w/o sacrificing our own best interests. Lets make a statement right in his presence...right in his FACE! 2. This shows that you will work within the capacity of your mutual interests (the NBA) and be tolerant of his beliefs while showing a distaste for his views in a manner that does not mirror his own mindset. The mindset of a racist is so narrow and ignorant that he/she would spite himself/herself and his/her own best interests in order to stand on the principle that intolerance is justified. Intolerance is NEVER justified... It is simply (and ironically) tolerated. Boycotting him is a statement of intolerance. One that we dont need to make to put pressure on him. He has the right to think and believe how he does; and we should continue to work with him in the best interests of the NBA; BUT work AGAINST him in those things that arent in the best interests of the NBA. Boycotting doesnt do that. It only works AGAINST the interests of the NBA, while making a point to him. Blacking out his games with the t-shirts does both; without having any negative impact in the NBA! HOPEFULLY they SELL OUT the GAME(S)!!! 3. Rosa Parks! Boycotting buses didnt fix the problem. A person sitting in the place (and the face) of the mindset that didnt want her in that place was MUCH more effective. He cant stop you from coming to a Clippers game because he doesnt truly OWN the Clippers. He owns a franchise with a brand. He cant stop you from showing up! SHOW HIM THAT HIS DESIRES ARE FRUITLESS AND POWERLESS! You (in all of your blackness) embody all that the NBA is... He is merely someone eating off of the table that you and others like you built, set and filled with the feast! Dont let him dictate where in the NBA you can be or not be...even in times of frustration. 4. This approach goes beyond this situation. Your influence has the reach to affect the entire perspective of society on a global scale. This one boycott will have a minor affect. The MOVEMENT will have an iconic effect! Black out everything with The Magic Society merchandise! (doesnt really matter what color is on the front) 5. If anyone can turn this into a powerful and positive movement, you can! Please consider this strategy... I do this (strategic planning) for a living and there are many, many factors that go into this being a very effective plan that I simply dont have space and time to post on Facebook!
