Malcolm X once said, “America needs to understand Islam, because this is the one religion that erases from its society the race problem. Throughout my travels in the Muslim world, I have met, talked to, and even eaten with people who in America would have been considered white, but the white attitude was removed from their minds by the religion of Islam. I have never before seen sincere and true brotherhood practiced by all together, irrespective of their color.” Today, It is not America that needs to understand Islam, it is the Muslims that need to understand Islam. Consequently, the battle for human rights in Islam, social and political corruption, and culture that has taken Islam hostage, are the leading controversial concerns for Muslims living in Africa, the West, Asia, and the Gulf. Corruption has affected the social, economic and political sphere. Human rights is disrupted by culture, gender inequality, social and political exploitation of women, honor killings, female genital mutilation, trafficking and force marriages, lack of healthcare, education, tribalism and nationalism. These worldwide social, political, and cultural grievances have attacked Muslims – leaving them virtually defenseless, undermined, crippled, and sandbagged. Muslims, Need to Understand Islam
