Managed to catch Merlin at the Royal last E coutesy of a generous close R. My dation was a trifle trepi given that I am a devotee of T H Whites Once and Future King. Having fought our way through the hordes of Pasquale-ettes things started brightly as we settled back in our seats to the delightful sounds of the mighty Bellowhead. The piece is set in a library and boasts a relatively young cast and some excellent SFX. Merlin is young and ginger, although, I understand I should call him Strawberry Blond. Now I confess I have previous with the Legend, having understudied Karl Swenson in Disneys Sword in the S. Walt himself complemented me on my beard. The Royals Merlin looks incapable of growing a flowing B, but then this piece has themes of adolescent angst so perhaps facial hair is not appropriate. He does however have a puppet dragon and I am a sucker for a puppet. Some of you might have seen me in the short lived Avenue P the prequel to Avenue Q. Anyway try and see the show before it closes.
